BRAZIL forward Geyse has joined Gotham FC in a loan deal that runs until November, with the move coming just over three weeks after she opened up on her unhappiness at Manchester United.
Geyse will move to the United States for the full NWSL season, subject to international clearance, and the deal includes an option for the switch to be made permanent.
At the start of the month, the 26-year-old posted on social media to say she was finding it “agonising and lonely” at United, and the WSL club said that had been a key factor in arranging the loan.
“The loan deal is important to Geyse as we continue to have her wellbeing at the centre of our decision-making,” said interim head of women’s football Matt Johnson. “We wish her well with Gotham.”
United paid a club-record fee to sign Geyse from Barcelona in August 2023. She made 21 appearances last term, but has been limited to only nine so far this term, starting six.
Geyse went on compassionate leave in January following the death of her brother in a car accident in Brazil and returned to action as a substitute in a 2-0 WSL win over Leicester on March 2.
