UNEMPLOYMENT and Brexit dominated questions to Welsh First Minister Eluned Morgan today.
Welsh Conservative leader Darren Millar said the Office for National Statistics’ labour market overview showed that Wales has the highest level of unemployment in Britain.
The Tory leader also that claimed Brexit had been a success for Wales, to Ms Morgan’s genuine surprise.
“We’ve got to respect the fact that people in Wales did vote for Brexit, but they were told untruths,” she said.
“They were made promises that have not been fulfilled.”
Plaid Cymru leader Rhun ap Iorwerth invited the FM to agree that “Britain should be in the single market, at least,” adding: “Let’s get in the customs union.”
Mr ap Iorwerth also asked Ms Morgan to adopt Plaid’s plan for a new Act which would enable Welsh and EU law to be aligned.
The FM said her government was already working with the Westminster government to ensure alignment on as much as possible, saying: “It’s a lovely idea, but I hardly think it’s original.”
