“WE need our paper,” said a Sheffield reader as she sent in her £300. And with over 21 grand in our postbag last month, it looks like her call to arms is being answered.
The local readers and supporters group in Shropshire sent £350 — the first installment of a £1,000 target to cover one day of the paper’s Covid-related loses.
£50 landed in our coffers from the North Clyde branch of RMT and more branches will be following suit, we’ve been told.
A reader in Bradford sent £90, pointing out that we “only need another 999 of these to hit the £90,000 target.”
He wasn’t the only one coming up with fundraising ideas.
“Here’s the money I’ve saved from not going to the pub,” read a sober note from a supporter in Sutton, as another £180 was shoved into our grateful mitts.
“Socialism,” wrote the Chilean leftwinger Jose Viera-Gallo, “can only arrive by bicycle.”
And with corona still not under control, more and more socialists are arriving by bicycle.
So if you’ve swapped the bus for a bike or a pint of beer for a pint of milk, how about sending us what you've saved? From a fiver to a thousand pounds, every donation helps us report the facts behind the fightback on Covid scandals, Black Lives Matter, and workers in struggle.
Comrades, you know what to do keep the red star flying high. Dig deep for your daily socialist miracle!
