Election could see a Scottish Tory wipeout, say SNP

THE SNP has claimed it will kick the Tories out of “every seat in Scotland” despite trailing Labour in the polls.

The most recent polling by More In Common shows Labour leading on 35 per cent, five points ahead of the SNP on 30 per cent, while the Tories languish on 17 per cent.

If accurate, the polling could mean Labour stands to gain more than 20 seats – largely in old heartlands lost en masse to the SNP in 2015.

But with SNP the closest challenger in all six Tory seats, their party leader John Swinney said: “I am urging people in Scotland to unite by voting SNP, meaning we cannot just remove the Tories from Downing Street, but kick them out of every seat in Scotland.

“We are the only party that can defeat every Tory MP.”

Scottish Labour’s Dame Jackie Baillie said: “This latest poll yet again shows that Scotland is crying out for change from the SNP and the Tories.”
