Men's Football City use comfortable West Ham win to work on training drills

WEST HAM have 43 goals this season. Champions Manchester City have scored 43 in the first-half of games alone. It’s a highlight on the gulf of class between the two sides.

As the Hammers sleepwalk their way to Premier League survival, City are running laps on the rest of the league as they continue dazzling their way past all opposition put in front of them.

Yesterday was no different. City ran out 4-1 winners in London in what was a glorified training session for the Premier League champions. A drill on attacking down the right flank and cutting the ball back for oncoming players to strike the back of the net. Three of the four goals came via this route.

David Moyes in the Hammers dugout was utterly powerless to prevent Pep Guardiola from taking advantage.

City’s overlaps down the right were devastating, each of their four goals coming from that side.

Leroy Sane’s deflected goal opened the scoring, before former City defender Pablo Zabaleta deflected into his own net.

Raheem Sterling tormented Patrice Evra throughout. When it wasn’t Sterling, City sent Leroy Sane down the right or Kevin De Bruyne would pop up.

Even going five at the back didn’t help. While Aaron Cresswell made it 1-2 to cut the deficit in half right before the break, City didn’t panic.

They instead continued what they were doing after the break and Gabriel Jesus and Fernandinho added goals three and four in almost equal fashion, a cut back from inside the box on the right hand side finding the pair to finish with ease.

When the referee put West Ham and their fans out of their misery at the final whistle, there weren’t even enough fans in the stadium to boo with any gusto, the away side’s cheers drowning out those who had decided to stay.
