CAMPAIGNERS against plans to build a US space radar station in Wales have taken their campaign to Senedd politicians.
Nearly 17,000 people have signed an online petition opposing Ministry of Defence (MoD) plans to build 27 radar dishes at Cawdor Barracks in Brawdy, Pembrokeshire, known as Darc.
People Against Radar Campaign (Parc), CND Cymru, Stop the War and Peace Action Wales protested against the plans at the parliament on Wednesday.
Twelve members of the Senedd from across the political spectrum have backed to a Statement of Opinion — the Welsh equivalent of a private members’ Bill — that recognises widespread local opposition to the proposal.
A spokesman for Parc said the protest “marks a big step change in the political impact of the campaign against Darc that has gone an incredibly long way very quickly, with now cross-party support from some Welsh Labour MSs, strong support from Plaid Cymru and support also from the Welsh Liberal Democrats’ Senedd representative, Jane Dodds.”
