BRITAINS communists have condemned geopolitical “cold war lies” and social media misogyny, warning of their dire consequences for US foreign policy and government austerity measures respectively.
Speaking at the Communist Party’s political committee on Tuesday, Carol Stavris said: “The first cold war delivered half a century of lies about Nato, the US-led ‘arms race’, non-existent ‘Soviet threat’ and US military bases in Britain. The new cold war will be similar, but with deeper cuts to public services and social security programmes.”
She warned that US President Trump’s agenda to seize control of precious natural resources and strategic transport routes in Ukraine, Greenland and Panama was driven by his undeclared war against the rise of China and its allies in the Brics economic group of nations. Originally comprised of Brazil, Russia India, China and South Africa, Brics now includes additional Middle Eastern and African states.
Ms Stavris challenged claims that British rearmament would drive job growth, arguing that investment in healthcare, education, infrastructure and green energy would create far more employment opportunities.
“Already, [Prime Minister] Keir Starmer’s decision to carry out Trump’s instructions has hit our pensioners and poorest families hard, with attacks on the disabled and higher energy bills to follow, as up to 7,000 jobs are cut in NHS England and local councils face a two-year £6 billion funding gap,” she said.
Ms Stavris also condemned billionaire Elon Musk’s decision to reinstate the account of alleged rapist and sex trafficker Andrew Tate on X, calling it a “disaster for women” that fuels the radicalisation of men and boys into accepting gender-based violence.
She echoed police chiefs’ warnings that violence against women and girls is a “national emergency” and accused the government and justice system of failing to protect victims.
The Communist Party is urging supporters to attend this Sunday’s Karl Marx commemoration at Highgate Cemetery at 1pm.
