STRIKE action on buses across Scotland has been averted after Unite members accepted a much improved pay offer ahead of industrial action.
Stagecoach workers across Fife, Perth and Strathtay have given the green light to an offer which will see staff be given a pay rise.
Around 600 Stagecoach East workers had rejected a previous proposal with Unite stating there was some distance to go to meet the pay demands of its members.
A ballot of the workers across the east coast of England saw more than 90 per cent of workers in each area back walkouts.
The members involved in the dispute included drivers, engineering staff, administrative workers and cleaners.
Unite regional co-ordinator Dougie Maguire said: “Strike action will now not be necessary thanks to the solid stance taken by our members, who, it should be remembered, have kept the country moving during this pandemic.
“The message for workers is clear. You can succeed in improving your terms and conditions at work, join Unite and be prepared to challenge your employer.”
