WORKERS at the sharp end of the class struggle in Britain shared their experiences with an online audience on Saturday night as the first-ever edition of Comrades aired.
Hosted by Strike Map co-founder Henry Fowler, the show included teachers Venda Premkumar and Chris Denson explaining how the National Education Union has organised to defend its members’ safety through the pandemic.
Front-line workers Naomi and Bella, struggling for a living wage and recognition of their union, United Voices of the World, at the Sage care home in north London featured in the round-up’s first “strike of the week.”
And the Unite union’s Steve Turner detailed how the determination of Rolls-Royce workers and their community saved hundreds of jobs at the historic Barnoldswick engineering site in Lancashire.
The Strike Map website, www.strikemapuk.wordpress.uk, was launched in December, as a worker-powered resource to map and encourage solidarity for strike action taking place across Britain.
Editions of Comrades can be accessed via the website or at StrikeMapUK on Facebook, or @StrikeMapUK on Twitter.
