PM invited to keep his promise

BORIS JOHNSON was given the chance to keep his promise to lie down in front of a bulldozer yesterday in opposition to Heathrow expansion.

The machine was brought to his Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency by Greenpeace to remind the Prime Minister of his vow to “lie down in front of those bulldozers” to prevent a third runway.

Since making the vow in 2015, when he was London mayor, Mr Johnson has gone silent on the issue, refusing in interviews to rule out the expansion of London’s biggest airport.

His Labour challenger for the seat, Ali Milani, lay in front of the bulldozer instead in a symbolic protest against the plans.

Mr Milani said: “This is an important moment for us to remind residents that Boris Johnson has failed not only the people of Uxbridge and South Ruislip but Great Britain more broadly.

“We are confident on December 12 that we are going to make history by unseating a sitting prime minister.”

Stop Heathrow Expansion campaign co-ordinator Rob Barnstone told the Star that plans to expand the airport would be an “environmental catastrophe” for the local area and “flies in the face” of the climate emergency.
