Plaid accuse Labour of putting party interests before Wales

PLAID CYMRU parliamentary leader Liz Saville Roberts accused Welsh Labour at the weekend of putting party interests above those of the people of Wales.

She described how the Labour-controlled Welsh government favours devolving policing and justice to Wales, but the party’s Westminster leadership remains implacably opposed – including Welsh Labour’s deputy leader, Caroline Harris.

“You have to wonder if Labour in the Senedd and at Westminster are in the same party.

“But when push comes to shove they will reach internal agreement and I am sick of Labour putting party interest above that of the Welsh people,” she said.

Ms Saville Roberts also teased Prime Minister Rishi Sunak over the recent “Windsor framework” agreement which will enable Northern Ireland access to the European Union single market.

The MP for Dwyfor Meirionnydd wanted the same access to the single market for Wales but failed to acknowledge the majority of the Welsh electorate’s vote to leave the EU.
