MISSING student nurse Owami Davies has been found alive and well seven weeks into an investigation which prompted severe criticism of police competence.
The 24-year-old, who was reported missing on July 6, sparking a major police hunt, was contacted on Tuesday in Hampshire.
The Metropolitan Police said today that she did not appear to be in a vulnerable state and was “fit and well cared for.”
The Davies family said their prayers had been answered and thanked everyone who had helped the search for her.
The Met has announced a review of how the case was handled following criticisms of the officers’ approach.
Initially, the force published a photo of the wrong person, prompting MP Diane Abbott to accuse them of “sloppiness” and failing to “serve certain communities as well as they could.”
Officers also reportedly spoke to Ms Davies at a Croydon address on July 6 after being called out over concerns for her welfare, but they failed to take any action.
