FOLK-PUNK singer Billy Bragg greeted Labour student activists campaigning for striking McDonald’s workers before performing at Manchester Academy on Monday night.
Manchester Labour Students secretary Sarah Cundy was among Labour activists collecting signatures from the queue outside the venue in support of striking workers at the transnational food chain.
After she tweeted Mr Bragg asking if he could congratulate the strikers on stage, he left the venue to go and find them.
Mr Bragg then tweeted Ms Cundy back with a picture of himself with the activists, saying: “I’m there!”
He congratulated them for their efforts in supporting the strikers, who walked out of six stores across London yesterday.
Ms Cundy told the Morning Star: “We thought he might retweet it or give a shout-out to the McStrikers during his gig to raise awareness, but we weren’t expecting him to leave, come and find us and thank us for petitioning his queue.”
