HUMAN rights campaigners are targeting three more airlines prepared to take on government contracts to deport refugees to Rwanda.
Two British charter airlines, Titan and Airtanker, along with Spanish airline Privilege Style are reportedly still accepting deportation contracts.
Protests have taken place at an airline conference and fair in Amsterdam where Freedom from Torture (FfT) activists — including refugees — stormed the stage and condemned Privilege Style’s involvement in the lucrative contracts.
Protests also took place in Spain.
FfT said three more airlines prepared to accept the contracts, Hi Fly, Iberojet and Wamos Air, based in Spain and Portugal, will now be targeted.
The campaign group is mounting an online campaign appealing for public support to tell the three airlines: “If you profit from refugees’ pain, you’ll be held to account.”
FfT has issued an open letter to the airlines, which it is urging the public to support and send.
It states: “The UK government is trying to send refugees who have come to the UK seeking sanctuary on forced flights to Rwanda.
“The scheme has been condemned by religious leaders, celebrities — and even the King of England.
“The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has said that forcing vulnerable refugees onto these flights could even breach international law.”
It calls on the airlines to “publicly pledge never to take part in cruel schemes like this — airlines should bring families together, not tear them apart.”
Former home secretary Priti Patel announced the £120 million deportation deal with Rwanda in April. After protests and legal action, no deportation flights have taken place.
