Church: I’m not the face of protest

CHARLOTTE CHURCH denied yesterday that she was the “new face” of the protest movement after appearing at anti-austerity marches.

The singer-turned-activist made headlines after her rousing speech at the People’s Assembly Against Austerity protest in London last Saturday.

Around 250,000 opponents of Tory cuts to welfare and public services were in attendance.

Speaking after an appearance at Glastonbury festival, Ms Church said: “I don’t feel like I’m the new face of protesting.

There are so many activists and protesters who have been doing this for decades — years and years.”
