Robertson selected again as SNP leader in the Commons

ANGUS ROBERTSON was reselected as the SNP’s Westminster leader yesterday.

Former party leader and first minister Alex Salmond backed the Moray MP to keep the role he has held since 2007.

Mr Robertson will lead the record band of 56 SNP MPs in the Commons, which was granted official third party status on Monday.

SNP deputy leader Stewart Hosie was also confirmed as deputy in the Commons, with the group’s executive completed by Eilidh Whiteford as secretary, along with Pete Wishart and Kirsten Oswald.

Mr Robertson said it was a “real honour to continue in this job during such an exciting time” and added that as Westminster’s third-largest party the SNP was “better placed to hold the UK government to account.”
