London's Tube workers take fight against sinister biometric fingerprint scanners to Parliament

Victimised Tube workers will take their case to Parliament today after at least one agency cleaner was sacked for refusing to use a biometric fingerprinting system.

Tube union RMT has waged a long-running campaign against contractor ISS’s move to the biometric system of digital time sheets, branding it an attack on civil liberties and a move towards workplace automation.

The union instructed members to boycott the new system after an overwhelming Yes vote for action in a boycott.

A cleaner at Heathrow Terminal 4 Underground station was fired yesterday morning while workers across the network were sent home without pay despite a prior agreement that workers would be allowed to continue using the old system.

Acting RMT general secretary Mick Cash said: “We call on members and supporters to show their opposition to ISS’s appalling bullying tactics by joining the demonstration outside Parliament tomorrow.”

Protesters will gather at 9am at Old Palace Yard.
