Bid to oust student activist falls flat

VICTIMISED Goldsmiths University diversity officer Bahar Mustafa has kept her job after a vote of no confidence failed to gather support yesterday.

Ms Mustafa found herself at the centre of a right-wing media storm after organising a black and other minority ethnic women-only meeting.

The elected student officer faced accusations of racism when she requested white people did not attend the event.

A petition to have Ms Mustafa removed from her job failed after being signed by only 165 of the college’s 8,000 students.

A students’ union spokesman said the total was below that needed to trigger a referendum.

Ms Mustafa had argued that social media tags such as #KillAllWhiteMen were merely “in-jokes and ways that many people in the queer feminist community express ourselves.”
