Farage and Brand raise BBC viewing figures

A heated clash between comedian Russell Brand and Ukip leader Nigel Farage brought Question Time an extra million viewers this week.

Thursday’s programme rated second in Britain’s most-watched shows of the day with a total of 3.4 million people tuning in.

The evening scored with several memorable moments including Mr Brand’s comments to Mr Farage.

“But this man is not a cartoon character. He ain’t Del Boy. He ain’t Arthur Daley. He is a pound shop Enoch Powell, and we’ve got to watch him,” blustered Mr Brand.

Activist Bunny La Roche also gained immediate acclaim as the “winner” of the debate.

She is heard shouting: “I live in South Thanet and I’m coming for you Farage, don’t you bloody worry.”
