Big Brother’s Wise to fight assembly seat for Plaid

A FORMER Big Brother contestant was revealed yesterday as a unlikely Plaid Cymru candidate in next year’s Welsh Assembly elections.

Glyn Wise, who was runner-up in the the reality TV programme’s 2006 series, has been selected to challenge Labour in Cardiff Central.

Since leaving the Big Brother house Mr Wise — from a “working-class family” in Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd — has worked as a TV and radio presenter.

Now, he wants to sit in the Siambr chamber as believes he can make a difference to those who have lost faith in government.

“I look forward to using my experience in reaching out to people across all communities, many of whom have become disillusioned with politics in recent years,” said Mr Wise.

“Significant improvements need to be made in our NHS so that patients don’t have to wait so long to see a doctor or have an operation.

“The current waiting times are unacceptable.”

Plaid currently has 11 out of 60 assembly seats. Its roster includes former BBC journalist and presenter Rhun ap Iorwerth.
