BRITAIN’S LGBT community are suffering from the continuing disproportionate effects of Con-Dem austerity cuts, writes David Sharkey.
This year’s LGBT fringe at the TUC Congress highlighted yesterday that people suffering with HIV and the community’s trans members were struggling with NHS cuts and paying prescription charges, as well as the LGBT support services, shelters and clinics closing at an alarming rate.
The event dubbed Down and Out: the reality of life for LGBT people in austerity-hit Britain presented research, collected by University of Hull’s Anna Einarsdottir and Manchester Business School’s Helge Hoel among others, which showed that bullying of LGBT people in the workplace was still a major issue that needed to be tackled.
