Maria Duarte reviews 'Pitch Perfect 2'

Pitch Perfect 2 (12A) Directed by Elizabeth Banks 2/5

THREE years after the surprise hit Pitch Perfect, the Barden Bellas are back with more a-capella high jinks and another embarrassing moment of global proportions.

As the girls are singing to President Obama, Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) —hanging from a trapeze — suffers a wardrobe malfunction and flashes her private parts to him and the nation live on TV. “Muffgate” ensues. The news coverage is hysterical, though the FBI rules out terrorism.

It’s the best gag in this Elizabeth Banks film but, after its tremendous start, the rest is hit and miss. Rebel Wilson once again steals the show in a sequel which, among others, takes cheap shots at women, ethnic groups, illegal immigrants and Germans.

If you loved the first film, this is for you.
