Denmark: Minister - Seize migrants’ jewels

MPs are considering seizing asylum-seekers’ assets to pay for their accommodation in the country.

Immigration Minister Inger Stoejberg said yesterday that police should be able to take asylum-seekers’ valuables to pay for their lodging, language classes, healthcare and job training courses.

The proposal has the support of the anti-immigrant Danish People’s Party — and is expected to pass next month.
