Star cyclists begin third fundraiser

MORNING Star supporters set off on their third annual cycle challenge yesterday, starting with a two-day ride from Liverpool to Durham.

North West TUC secretary Lynn Collins and NW chairman Steve Farley congratulated the team on their continuing efforts while a team of supporters cheered the cyclists on.

The north-west cycle team plans to continue the challenge next weekend with a one-day ride from Bradford to Manchester.

A third cycle in London, intended to inspire riders and supporters in the Big Smoke to organise something similar, has yet to be confirmed.

The riders’ progress can be followed on their website at pedal4progress.wordpress.com where you can make a donation or bid for one of just 10 copies of special artwork designed by Hazel Roberts.

All money raised will go to the Morning Star and the riders have this year committed to raise at least £3,000 for the paper.
