Fourteen people have been killed in clashes between criminals in the gang-stricken north-eastern state of Tamaulipas

Fourteen people have been killed in clashes between criminals in the north-eastern state of Tamaulipas, police said yesterday.

The fights took place throughout Sunday in Madero and Tampico.

Tamaulipas, one of Mexico’s most violent states, has been engulfed by infighting in the once-dominant Gulf Cartel, which has also come under attack from its rival the Zetas.
