NUS takes government to court

THE National Union of Students (NUS) revealed yesterday that it had begun legal action against the government over its plans to end student maintenance grants.

A “judicial review pre-action letter” was sent to Business Secretary Sajid Javid warning that the government has failed to comply with its legal obligation to consider the impact of the cut.

NUS said it would “explore all legal avenues open to us.”
