PM apologises for ‘purring Queen’

Politics: David Cameron was expected to make his promised apology to the Queen yesterday for disclosing that she “purred” when informed of the result of the Scottish independence referendum.

The embarrassed PM had an audience at Buckingham Palace last night in what is thought to be his first face-to-face meeting with the Queen since his notorious indiscretion.

 

Farmer admits 13 years of exploitation

Working rights: A farm owner has pleaded guilty to forcing a “timid” and “easily led” man to work for him for more than 13 years — and making him sleep in a shed for a decade.

David Daniel Doran, 42, has been on trial at Cardiff Crown Court for the past three weeks after police discovered missing Kidderminster man Darrell Simester in “appalling” state on his farm in Newport.

 

Adviser resigns over clown line

Politics: House of Commons Speaker John Bercow’s communications adviser resigned yesterday after speaking at Lib Dem conference.

Justine McGuinness faced calls to resign after launching a public attack on the Conservatives, Labour and Ukip, whom she called a “collection of clowns.”

She bowed to pressure and stood down from the role, which is supposed to be politically neutral, after just a year.
