42% polled want to leave Europe

EU: Almost a third more voters want Britain to leave the EU as stay in — but around 12 million remain to be persuaded either way, a poll found yesterday.

The OnePoll survey of 2,000 adults for ITV suggested the “out” camp would outscore “in” by 42 per cent to 31 per cent in an immediate referendum.

And 55 per cent believed Britain “could do well outside” the EU.

Labour’s Clwyd wins re-selection fight

Politics: Outspoken MP Ann Clwyd won a controversial re-selection fight for the Cynon Valley seat on Saturday.

Ms Clwyd, a critic of the Welsh NHS since her husband died in hospital “like a battery hen” in 2012, was set to stand down after 30 years as an MP.

But she stood again after local Labour members rejected the party’s decision to select the general election candidate through an all-woman shortlist.
