Courts rule out UCU strike action

A strike across England’s colleges was called off yesterday after a High Court ruling prevented the action from going ahead.

Members of the university and college staff union UCU were due to walk out today in a dispute over pay.

But employers’ body the Association of Colleges sought an injunction at the High Court to get the action stopped.

The union strongly defended members’ right to strike in court but said it would abide by the decision. UCU members in colleges in England should go to work as normal tomorrow.
