MILIFANDOM founder Abby Tomlinson spoke out yesterday against any Labour Party shift to the right.
The 17-year-old has become one of Britain’s best-known social media political activists since using Twitter to take on right-wing smears against Ed Miliband during the general election.
Mr Miliband even credited her with starting the “most unlikely cult of the 21st century” during his resignation speech.
With her political hero now on the back benches, the tweeting teenager is interviewing the candidates hoping to follow in his footsteps.
After speaking to two of the four — Andy Burnham and Jeremy Corbyn — she is reserving her judgement about who should be the next face of the Labour Party.
But speaking to the Star during a visit to Parliament, she was clear about what the direction the party should take post-Miliband.
She said: “I don’t think there should be a huge move to the right, as I think some are suggesting. I think that would split the party.
“Maybe Liz Kendall wouldn’t, maybe it would take someone a bit further to the right.
“But if it did move too far right, I think it would split the party because obviously there’s a lot of activism for Jeremy Corbyn at the moment.”
However Ms Tomlinson’s trip to Parliament took a turn for the worse when she came face to face with Prime Minister David Cameron, which she called the “most terrifying experience of my life.”
She tweeted: “I just said hello (rather nicely) and he was SO rude to me. He really does hate young people.”
