What is the West Ham way? It seems Sam Allardyce isn’t setting out the team in the way the fans want him to.
According to supporters, the West Ham way is about the club playing stylish, attractive football while winning games but over the past few years this self-styled way of football seems to be struggling to stay up while not being the most pleasing on the the eye.
Under Allardyce, the Hammers are never going to play “tiki-taka” football but they will be safe in the Premier League.
But fans want more and have been calling for a change in the dugout for quite some time.
The way the team has been set up under the current regime is to rely heavily on Andy Carroll, which isn’t the best thing considering he has spent most of the time in the treatment room with ankle injuries.
But the additions of Mauro Zarate and Enner Valencia may not be enough to keep Allardyce in a job this season.
There is only so long David Gold and David Sullivan can ignore calls for the manager to be sacked. Especially if they endure another mixed season like the previous one.
Should they start flirting with the relegation zone it may be time to call this relationship to an end.
The only problem is that who replaces him? In that situation, the club would look to bring in a manager like Sam Allardyce. And this is where the board struggles.
There isn’t a viable replacement when the coach you already have is perfect for the situation.
In order for Big Sam to keep his job, he needs to start showing he can take this team to the next level and have them fighting for the Europa League, or he may finally be shown the exit as the Hammers look to progess.
