Leyton Orient 0-2 Crewe

THE message from Brisbane Road on Saturday was clear: Leyton Orient are in a right mess and owner Francesco Becchetti is no longer wanted.

The “Becchetti Out” chants grew as the game went on but are not new. However, following this 2-0 defeat to Crewe, who came into the game winless in seven, Orient find themselves second from bottom in League Two and the supporters have had enough.

One goal at home since August, seven defeats in eight games at Brisbane Road, fans know this is the form of a team who will be spending next season out of the Football League.

Alberto Cavasin, speaking after the game through a translator, said that there were signs of improvement and that the double training sessions are helping but this is not translating onto the pitch.

Despite a positive start from the home side, the moment George Cooper’s left-footed shot found the top corner the team’s heads dropped and never picked up.

Harry Davis doubled the lead three minutes from the break. But instead of bringing on another striker during half-time, Cavasin decided to take one off and bring on a defensive midfielder.

Fans voiced their bafflement and fury with shouts of: “You don’t know what you’re doing.” When Cavasin told reporters after that he substituted man of the match Nigel Atangana, which was also met with loud boos, but could have easily taken off Robbie Weir or new signing Michael Collins, it was met with puzzled looks.

Collins had been on less than 15 minutes when Atangana was taken off which sums up that maybe those in charge at Orient are really lost at sea.
