John Collins insisted yesterday that the desire for “a simple answer” lay behind Celtic’s decision to write to the Scottish FA about the officiating in their Scottish Cup semi-final defeat by Inverness on Sunday.
The Parkhead club and their fans were enraged by referee Steven McLean’s failure to award a penalty against Inverness defender Josh Meekings when he blocked Leigh Griffiths’s goal-bound header with his hand just before the interval with the Hoops leading 1-0.
The Highlanders came back to win 3-2 in extra-time to deprive Ronny Deila’s side the chance of the treble and set up a meeting with Falkirk in the May 30 final.
“We want a simple answer,” Celtic’s assistant manager said. “If you are looking for an answer you ask a question.
Collins went on to say that the club had moved on.
