Tens of thousands march across the globe against Israel's war on Palestine

Tens of thousands around the world took to the streets over the weekend in solidarity with the victims of Israel’s latest bombardment of Palestine.

In Israel, Arabs and Jews marched side by side to call for an end to the violence.

Witnesses said a large group of rightwingers attacked a Yaffa demonstration while police stood idly by.

One of the beaten protesters needed hospital treatment.

After 500 marched through Haifa, organiser Raja Zaatry was questioned by police for not receiving a permit.

In Germany, police were left red-faced after accidentally allowing a protester to bellow anti-Israel slogans through a police megaphone.

Frankfurt police said the demonstrator had offered to calm a Free Gaza protest that was turning violent using a police car’s soundsystem.

But instead the man led chants in German and Arabic to the 2,000 present, who cheered and joined in.

In Indonesia, hundreds marched through Jakarta carrying Palestinian flags and photos of some of the children killed in airstrikes.

Activist Adityo Nugroho told news agency AFP that it was a “show of solidarity for our Muslim brothers and sisters.”
