Parking wardens scrap strike after new offer

PARKING wardens in central London have called off a strike after bosses put a “notably improved” offer on the table.

Staff at private contractor NSL voted overwhelmingly to down tools in a pay dispute.

Most of the workers are currently paid £8.92 an hour — below the London living wage.

After previous negotiations, the workforce was offered £9.27 an hour — but bosses stalled rather than agree to pay £9.50.

NSL is the biggest player in the parking enforcement industry and a leading bidder for privatised NHS ambulance and other patient transport services.

The company is effectively controlled by private equity firm AAC Capital Partners.
