Greece: Golden Dawn turns huffy after brush with anarchists

LAWYERS for members of Greece’s fascist Golden Dawn (GD) party demanded a change of venue for their trial yesterday.

In the latest delay to the start of the trial of the 69 members of the far-right party, lawyers complained after members of an anarchist group also on trial threatened the GD defendants.

Conspiracy of Fire Nuclei suspects on trial for several bombings were being led to their own courtroom at Korydallos when they managed to force open the door to the chamber where GD leader Nikos Michaloliakos MPs and party footsoldiers were on trial for running a criminal organisation.

The anarchists threatened the GD members, tried to barge into the courtroom and threw a bottle before police intervened.

In response to the minor incident, Golden Dawn lawyers refused to take part in any further court proceedings and demanded the trial be moved to another location.
