Match-winner Nathan Redmond believes England Under-21s can handle the Polish heat as they target the Euro 2017 semi-finals.
The Southampton winger scored to seal a 2-1 comeback win over Slovakia on Monday to put the Young Lions closer to the last four.
They top Group A ahead of tomorrow’s final game with hosts Poland in Kielce, aiming to qualify for the knock-out stages for the first time since 2009.
Victory would confirm top spot in the group and Redmond believes the Young Lions can conquer the hosts.
“It was important for us to keep believing in ourselves and keep fighting to show the grit and determination to get through,” he said.
“We’re not expecting anything less on Thursday, we know we’ve got terrific support back home and we’re aware through social media that they’re watching and it’s helping us get through.
“We’re not worried about hostile atmospheres as we have players who have played in games in hostile environments before, so we believe in our own ability and in how we play so we want to take that into the games.
“We wanted to get a win in the first game, but we couldn’t do that and had to settle for a point on the board, so we knew a win was important.
“But we go out to try and win every single game and that’s not going to change.”
England were on the brink of an early exit after Martin Chrien’s first-half goal put Slovakia ahead but Alfie Mawson scored five minutes after the break to level.
It was the Swansea centre-back’s first international goal and Mawson admitted a passionate half-time team talk inspired their recovery.
He said: “It got a little bit heated, really. A lot of players were frustrated. I was so frustrated about the goal. But [manager] Aidy [Boothroyd] was calm and calmed everyone down.
“We said we needed to man up and do the right thing. Credit to us and we did what we needed to do. We don’t take it in a negative way.
“We are all men about it. We could have easily crumbled at 1-0 down but we stood up and passed it with flying colours.
“At 1-0 we just had to stick to the game plan. It was a sloppy goal. We were annoyed. I was so annoyed.
“We have worked hard on set pieces and winning the first ball and I wasn’t switched on. I want to defend more than they want to score.
“We are relieved. It is a night I won’t forget in a long time.
“The first goal for my country? Brilliant! It’s come a bit late but it has come. It’s a great feeling.”
