Scotland cruised to a comfortable eight-wicket victory over Canada in their World Twenty20 qualifier Group B match at Goldenacre yesterday.
The hosts were set 136 to win after a 48-run ninth-wicket partnership from Navneet Dhaliwal, with 34, and Junaid Siddiqui, who scored 28 off 16, gave the Canadians a decent total to defend.
Scotland came through that test with flying colours as man of the match Kyle Coetzer’s unbeaten 51 and a 12-ball 33 from George Munsey ensured a convincing win.
Munsey hit six fours and a six in his innings as Coetzer completed his first half century of the tournament, carrying his bat after 41 balls, as the Scots finished on 139/2 with 32 balls to spare.
“Personally, it’s always great to get a score and contribute to the team, but most importantly getting the win,” Coetzer said.
“We’ve been batting really well in this tournament and we’ve seen a number of good performances from our batsmen and it’s nice to see a solid performance all round today.”
