Wales eye holy grail

WALES manager Chris Coleman insisted yesterday that the “holy grail” of playing in a major tournament is within reach as he looks to next month’s Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Coleman’s side start their campaign in Andorra next month but it is the games against group favourites Belgium and Bosnia-Herzegovina as well as Israel and Cyprus which will determine whether Wales make it to France in two years’ time.

The Dragons haven’t qualified for a major finals since World Cup 1958.

“If we have a little bit of luck injury-wise and get our best team on the pitch maybe we can go that one step further that no other Welsh team has done,” he said.

“The holy grail for us is to qualify and we’ve got a chance to do that over 10 games with a little bit of luck. That’s the objective.”
