France: drastic traffic cut to beat Paris pollution

Paris is cutting road traffic to combat pollution.

The mayor’s office said on Saturday that only cars with odd-numbered plates, electric or hybrid vehicles and any vehicles with more than three people will be permitted to drive today.

Public transport will be free, as will electric car-sharing and bike-sharing programmes.
