Redknapp not worried about losing his job

QPR 0-2 Man United, by Kadeem Simmonds at Loftus Road

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp feels like someone inside the club is trying to disrupt them after their 2-0 loss to Manchester United on Saturday.

A story published last week in the Mirror said that Redknapp had one game to save his job and that defeat to United could signal the end of his tenure at the club.

The article quoted a club insider but the former Tottenham manager said he had spoken to owner Tony Fernandes and there was no indication that his job was in danger, despite the club sitting two points from the bottom of the table.

“I’m not worried at all,” said Redknapp.

“I spoke to Tony Fernandes this week, five times, and he’s never mentioned anything to me, he’s just said: ‘What a load of nonsense.’

“Who do you believe, the insider, whoever may be, who’s trying to cause a problem, or do you believe the chairman?

“We’re still in amongst it to be fair. Okay today was a setback, but there’s nothing in it between the bottom seven teams.

“From Everton downwards it’s going to be extremely close and we’ve got as good a chance as anybody.”

Second-half goals from substitutes Marouane Fellaini and James Wilson gave United just their third away win of the season.

Manager Louis van Gaal was disappointed with the opening 45 minutes but a switch from 3-5-2 to 4-4-2 in the second half proved decisive.
