TORY Business Secretary Sajid Javid will be served an “injunction” next week by angry trade unionists demanding he drops anti-worker legislation.
The Right to Strike campaign will stage the stunt outside the Victoria Street offices of the Department of Business, Innovation and Skills at 6pm on Wednesday.
The new Trade Union Bill will place massive restrictions on picketing and union political funds, as well as requiring strikes in “key services” to be approved by over 40 per cent of eligible union members.
In a statement, the campaign said the turnout restrictions would thwart the chances of many Tory MPs if they were applied to general elections.
They argued that Mr Javid’s constituency vote only amounted to 38 per cent of his constituents on the electoral register.
“We think that if the Tories really wanted to make trade unions more democratic they would remove the laws banning us from having workplace ballots for strikes,” the statement said.
