Pooley still dominant after her retirement

EMMA POOLEY won the duathlon World Championships on Sunday, a month after retiring as a professional cyclist.

The 2008 Olympic silver-medallist and 2010 road time-trial world champion retired from cycling after finishing second to England team-mate Lizzie Armitstead in the Commonwealth Games road race on August 3.

The 31-year-old London-born athlete switched her attentions to triathlon and duathlon and was rewarded with victory in Powerman Zofingen, the Long Distance Duathlon World Championships.

Over 190-kilometres — 10km run,150km bike,30km run — Pooley won in six hours 47 minutes 27 seconds, more than 30 minutes ahead of second-placed Eva Nystrom.
