Mumsnet CEO hit by gun murder hoax report

A HOAX call brought armed police to the home of Mumsnet chief executive Justine Roberts yesterday after the website was the victim of a series of hacks.

Officers arrived at Ms Roberts’s London home in the early hours of Wednesday after a false claim a that “gunman was prowling around.”

A Scotland Yard spokesman said a first call was placed at quarter past midnight to say that a man had murdered a woman at the address.

“This was followed by a second call during which the caller stated he had members of his family held in a room,” said the spokesman.

“Local officers and firearms officers attended the address and carried out an assessment.

“The incident was treated as a hoax and the police response explained to those at the address.”

Earlier this month the popular parent advice website was attacked by a hacker who identified themself on Twitter as @DadSecurity.

No suspects have been identified so far.
