Ukip shuts down freepost address after receiving 'inappropriate items'

UKIP was forced to close down its freepost address this weekend after activists seized the service to return “inappropriate items.”

The picture of a Royal Mail receipt emerged on social media yesterday advising those using the UK Independence Party’s freepost address that it had been cancelled.

A campaign to return the right-wing party’s electoral leaflets through its freepost service had been highly publicised throughout the internet.

The address was allegedly abused by individuals attempting to send forbidden articles including “blood/human faeces.”

Ukip leader Nigel Farage did not comment on the incident, instead spending the weekend promoting the party.

“See our election address for the local elections this year and you will see a lot of black, ethnic minority candidates,” Mr Farage told the press.

But a recent poll showed that many believe the party to have “racist views.”

Mr Farage’s claims come mere days after a Ukip council candidate was reported for a series of racially abusive tweets.
