Workers call for reps on boards

Trade unionists called yesterday for worker representation on the boards of British companies.

TUC northern region says that most shares in British firms are now held overseas — and often only for periods as short as a few months.

Regional secretary Beth Farhat said this meant that shareholders “can no longer be the sole stewards of the long-term interests of a company. Polls show strong support for workers on boards, across the political spectrum.”
