Suegioo can put two years of hurt to bed

Our tipster casts his expert eye over the pick of the weekend’s meets

A LOSING run of over two years is hardly a recommendation for a nap bet, but since his Chester Cup success in 2015 Suegioo has been placed in an Ebor, Doncaster Cup and Henry II Stakes.

Furthermore, he has finally come down to his last winning mark of 100.

The cards in the north of England will be shaped by the weather with heavy thunderstorms set to hit Haydock, Chester and possibly York so be ready to flexible with your bets with ground conditions set to change at all three venues.

Such bouts of heavy rain are unlikely to concern the nap in the Haydock Park 2.20. In fact it would aid his chances and despite a moderate strike rate of two from 39, I fancy he could be the value in this staying event against the likes of Paris Protocol and Parliamentarian.

The fact that he showed that he retains the majority of his talent in this year’s Chester Cup also bodes well for the Richard Fahey charge with stable jockey Tony Hamilton up top.

The rest of the meeting looks a cracker with Naval Warfare the pick of the three-year-olds in the always competitive Silver Bowl at 2.55 despite a less than convivial draw in box number 13.

The Andrew Balding yard is tearing up the turf at the moment and this likeable son of Born To Sea gets the nod over Mustarrid.

A drop of the wet stuff wouldn’t go amiss for Quiet Reflection in the Temple Stakes at 4.05, but if it stays dry then both Waady and Cotai Glory could fight out the finish.

Goodwood is unlikely to see any rain so the ground should be lightning fast and the best bet at the beautiful Sussex track could well be beaten Chester Cup favourite Blakeney Point in the 4.20.

The selection found disappointingly little off the bridle after being superbly placed that day but a return to front running tactics around here could pay off at the main expense of Manjaam.

Across The Pennines at York, Firmament has leading claims in the opener at 2.10. He could never get a shot at the leaders in the Listed Paradise Stakes at Ascot and is worth another chance here at a track he is one for one at.

Later on, Dolphin Village looks the each-way call in the mile-and-a-half handicap at 3.15, while the huge field set to run in the 7f event at the backend of the card at 5.30 could well go to Theodorico from a nice slot in stall nine.

Finally, at Chester have a look at Lat Hawill in the 3.05, especially if the rains stay away. He looked very unlucky last time out over course and distance and should have plenty of pace to aim at here.
