Scotland: Tusc launches Scotland anti-austerity manifesto

THE Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition (Tusc) took to the streets of Glasgow yesterday to launch its Scottish election manifesto.

The five point Scottish Tusc pledge card calls for an end to all cuts and austerity, a £10 per hour minimum wage, public ownership, opposition to racism and a “massive programme of council house building.”

The participating organisations — RMT union in Scotland, Socialist Party Scotland and the SWP — all supported a Yes vote in last year’s independence referendum.

Scottish Tusc spokesman Philip Stott told the Morning Star: “The SNP has implemented billions in Tory austerity cuts in the Scottish Parliament.

“We are building for next year’s Scottish Parliament elections — I don’t think many of the people who vote SNP this time will keep on voting for them if they continue to implement cuts.”

Tusc, which was co-founded by the late RMT leader Bob Crow, is fielding 135 candidates across Britain.
