Real Madrid make €1m donation to refugees

REAL MADRID followed in the footsteps of Bayern Munich on Saturday by donating €1 million to refugees in Spain.

The Spanish giants showed solidarity with those in crisis and said they wanted to “contribute their bit in the drama that these people are living.”

A statement said: “Faithful to its commitment to charity, the club has taken this decision with the aim of supporting men, women and children who have been forced to leave their homes in order to flee from war and death.”

Munich also donated €1m to the refugee crisis on Thursday, while adding that they would hold training camps and provide hot meals and German lessons.

Supporters ofEnglish clubs Aston Villa and Swindon Town said they will hold up “Refugees Welcome” banners when their teams next played.
