Maria Duarte reviews Robot Overlords

Robot Overlords Directed by Jon Wright 3/5

A GROUP of children must save the world from alien robots who’ve invaded the earth in this surprisingly slick and stylish British sci-fi adventure.

Set somewhere in Britain, it features Callan McAuliffe as Sean Flynn who, along with his friends, leads the rebellion against their robot overlords. They’re pursued by the local chief officer and collaborator, played admirably by Sir Ben

Kingsley, who’s desperate to make off with Sean’s mother (the effortless Gillian Anderson).

Written and directed by Jon Wright, it’s an entertaining action adventure with impressive special effects.

Reminiscent of the features the Children’s Film Foundation used to make but with a modern twist, it feels very much like a boys’ own film.
